Legendary footballer Diego Armando Maradona’s mother, Dona Tota has died because of health problems that she suffered. She was headed to Buenos Aires hospital this Friday and after long cardiologic problems, she died on Sunday morning.
Dalma Salvadora Franco (called Dona Tota) died in her motherland, in Buenos Aires hospital. She used to have heart problems from 2003. She spent 2 months of summer in “Suzo” clinic.
In the argentine championship, the match between “Independiente” and “Olimpo” started with a minute of silence for Maradona’s mother’s respect.

The anniversary of the goal of the century - Maradona by Kusturica.

In the next few days there will be exactly a quartet of a century since the goal of the century was scored. The author of the best goal in the history of football is Diego Maradona.

The goal was made by the legendary player of the world on the world championship between England and Argentina.

Maradona is  the best player known not only for the goal, but also with scandalous actions and achievements, his great admirer Emir Kusturica has dedicated him a film.

Kusturica produced a movie called “Maradona”, it will be released on 22 June.

“We can’t make a step back in our relation” – says the Argentina’s national football team’s technical secretary Carlos Bilardo. He called Maradona “chicken” and added that, they can’t make step back in relation with the ex. Coach. “So he can make accusations as much as he wants” – says Bilardo.

In an interview published by a local newspaper, Bilardo had been one of Maradona’s targets. The ex. coach said Bilardo “betrays people,” that he considers him a “statue,” and assured that “he isn’t a face of Argentina’s football.”

BIlardo says that he doesn’t want to say much about Maradona, because he respects his daughters, but assures, that in1985 he had to fight with “the entire country” to make the sports-icon the captain of the team that won the World Cup in Mexico a year later.

The technical secretary always criticized Maradona for his work in Napoli, and said that when he played there, team wasn’t the champion of Europe.

Beside this Bilardo coached Maradona in Boca Juniors and at the Spanish Sevilla.

Owners of the Blackburn Rovers are speaking about the possibility of Diego Maradona succeeding Sam Allardyce.Chairwoman of Rovers owners Venky’s Anuradha Desai has declared that the club are taking the former Argentina coach into serious consideration, but it has been confirmed that Steve Kean shall remain in charge of the first team duties until the end of campaign.

Desai says: “We think about Maradona as a coach after we took over, but now, current coach will be the manager till the seaseon is over. There is no doubt of signing anyone  for such a short time”

Diego Armando Maradona was born in Lanús but was raised in Villa Fiorito a shanty town on the southern outskirts of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. He has three older sisters and two younger brothers Hugo and Eduardo both of whom were also professional football players.
Maradona was spotted by Los Cebolitas, the junior team of Buenos Aires’ Argentinos Juniors as a youngster aged 10 while playing for his neighbourhood club Estrella Roja . At Argentinos Juniors, he became very popular as a halftime attraction during the team’s league matches where he displayed his football joggling skills.
He made his professional debut with Argentinos  Juniors just ten days before his sixteenth birthday on October 20, 1976. He played for them between 1976 and 1981. He joined Boca Juniors for a transfer fee of £1m, and won his first league winner’s medal in 1982.
Maradona went to the 1982 World Cup with Argentina as defending champions. However, the team was eliminated in the second round after loosing to Brazil and eventual winners Italy in the 2nd round mini group stage.
After, the world cup, Maradona moved to Barcelona in Spain for a then world record fee of £5m. During his stay at Barcelona, he won the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup in 1983. However, due to many injuries and clashes with the club’s directors he made a transfer request and was transferred to Napoli for another record fee of £6.9m. in 1984.
He won two Serie A titles with Napoli in the 1986/87 and 1989/90 seasons. Maradona also won the Copa Italia in 1987, the old UEFA Cup in 1989 and the Italian Super Cup in 1990 and was the highest goal scorer in Serie A for the 1987/88 season.
Also in 1986, Maradona led Argentina to their second World Cup title winning the tournament’s Golden Ball award as its best player. Argentina’s quarter final match is historic because of the 2 goals Maradona scored in his team’s 2-1 victory over England.
The first was an unpenalized handball known as the ‘Hand of God’ and a brilliant second goal that saw Maradona dribble past six England players called the ‘Goal of the Century.’ The English were unforgiving of Maradona but he got away with it.
Maradona led his national team to the final of Italia ’90 where they lost to Germany, 1-0. He also appeared in the 1994 World Cup in the United States were he was banned after failing a drug test after returning positive samples for ephedrine. He was expelled from the tournament as a result.
Maradona also played for other football clubs such as Sevilla, Newell’s Old Boys and made a single appearance for Totenham Hotspur in the testimonial game for his very good friend Osvaldo Ardiles against Inter Milan just before the 1986 World Cup.
